Second Draft completed
50,600 words (192 pages) later I have completed the second draft of the companion book to “Virtually Real” the documentary film. Wow. To think that as I approached 20,000 words I wondered if I could ever find enough content to finish 30,000 words. At 50,000 words I’m wondering if I should put my head down and include all of the content that I have left out of the book so far — content that would easily push my past 100,000 words.
The thing is, the project becomes something different then. I want this to be accessible to everyone, not an academically-bent tome. I know…yes, I KNOW that in the form that the book is right now it’ll get reailed by some experts for not being beefy enough, for leaving many elements too thin, without enough substantiation. Thing is, that knind of stuff loses most people. Just the facts ma’am. Get me to the point. I want to get people interested and give them enough insight and information to make their OWN decisions and to go and educate themselves further on the issues that matter most to them…and there are a lot of issues covered in this.
Now I’m wondering how I’ll be able to condense this into a film with a 46 minute running time!
